Week 7

Detroit Lions (Away)

  • Date: Sunday, October 20
  • Time: 1 p.m. EST
  • TV: FOX

If last season is any indication of how this game will turn out, then it shouldn’t be too difficult for the Vikings to come away with a win over the Lions.

Minnesota won both of their matchups with Detroit in 2018 by at least 15 points. In their first meeting last season, the Vikings ended the day with a whopping 10 sacks.

Despite this game being on the road for Minnesota, they have the luxury of facing a Lions team that will be coming off a short week after playing on Monday night against the Green Bay Packers.

Stranger things have happened against Detroit in the recent past, but the Vikings should be able to leave the Motor City with another victory.

Prediction: Vikings win (6-1)

Week 8

Washington Redskins (Home)

  • Date: Thursday, October 24
  • Time: 8:20 p.m. EST
  • TV: NFL Network

This contest is not only expected to feature the return of Case Keenum to Minnesota, but Adrian Peterson could be taking the field against the Vikings for the second time since his departure from the franchise in 2017.

For Minnesota, they will be looking for their first home win on a Thursday since 2013, which interestingly enough came against the Redskins. The Vikings have actually faced Washington twice on a Thursday night and Minnesota has walked away with victories both times.

The Redskins don’t appear to be a team that will strike a ton of fear into their opponents in 2019, so the Vikings should be able to get a win.

Prediction: Vikings win (7-1)
