Round 4:  Benny Snell, RB – Kentucky

There is a chance Minnesota will want to address the running back position with an earlier selection, but the way the mock fell made it so a defensive tackle was showing more value. Thankfully, Benny Snell should be available in the fourth round.

The Vikings will miss Latavius Murray more than many fans will think. His hard-nosed running style was a good complement to Dalvin Cook and it’s hard to tell if Mike Boone is ready for the additional reps.

Snell has just what Minnesota is looking for, mixing toughness and ability to block. Standing five-foot-ten and weighing 224 pounds, the former Wildcats running back is the bowling ball the team needs. After three consecutive years with 1,000 rushing yards and double-digit touchdowns, he’s proven to be able to pound out the tough yardage as well as on the goal line.

Sure, he doesn’t have a lot of experience catching the ball out of the backfield, but having that part of his game drop him to the tenth highest ranked running back in the draft (at best) seems quite harsh…especially for a player who wouldn’t be expected to start.
