Round 6 Pick 2: Trey Pipkins, OL – Sioux Falls

This would be an amazing pickup for the Vikings if his place on the big boards of NFL teams is as low as those on scouting websites. While NFL.com sees him as a fourth-round value on Trey Pipkins, Draftek has him at 283 on their big board and CBS Sports at 218.

Pipkins stands six-foot-six and weighs 309 pounds, making him have an excellent frame for a potential offensive tackle. While the team will likely aim to bulk him up, they won’t want to change too much considering he’s got the footwork of a dancing bear as a protector.

The question of how he will stack up against tougher competition will be the biggest question surrounding Pipkins, but the drafting of Greg Little and the strong play of Riley Reiff, as well as the development of Brian O’Neill and the re-signing of Rashod Hill, should allow time for him to develop.

Another Minnesota native coming to the Vikings would be a fun story as well. Pipkins grew up near the Twin Cities and played his high school ball at Apple Valley High School. The Vikings do seem to love those home-grown players.
