1. Everson Griffen, defensive end – 2010
That’s right! The best fourth-round draft pick the Minnesota Vikings ever made was selecting Everson Griffen out of USC in 2010. And he might get even more accolades since his career wearing purple and gold could be far from over.
Griffen worked his way from being a backup and rotational player into taking over a starting job and becoming a three-time Pro Bowl player with three seasons of double-digit sacks under his belt.
At only 31 years old, Griffen is already fourth in franchise history in quarterback sacks with 66.5 and trails only Pro Football Hall of Fame pass rushers John Randle and Chris Doleman as well as potential Hall of Famer Jared Allen.
Heading into the 2019 NFL season, Griffen has played in 132 games for the Vikings, starting 73 of those. In addition to the 66.5 sacks, he has earned 293 combined tackles, nine forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, two defensive touchdowns, and one interception.
By the time his career is over, there is a chance he could add to his purple and gold legacy.
Who do you think was the best fourth-round draft pick in Minnesota Vikings history? Do you agree that it was Everson Griffen or was it someone else? Let us know your opinion in the comments section!
