5. The Vikings will trade a player at some point during the draft.

At some point during the 2019 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings will trade one of their players. During free agency, Trae Waynes was the hot name to get dealt. With his contract expiring after the season, and no extension in sight, it seemed the team might opt to move him and get a pick for this year’s draft instead of waiting a season for the compensatory pick the NFL would hand out for him after signing with another team. At this point, it looks murky that he’d get dealt. In fact, the only way it would happen would be if the team used its first-round pick on a cornerback like Greedy Williams.

Another option to trade is wide receiver, Laquon Treadwell. Treadwell fell out of favor with the coaching staff and the fanbase with his drop plagued 2018 campaign. The team could look to see what they could get for the former first rounder. If the Vikings end up using a second or third round pick on a receiver it would make moving Treadwell much easier. The problem is they wouldn’t get much for him. If they move Treadwell, it would be for a deal where all they are doing is trading him and a pick and getting a higher pick in the same round in return. So basically it’d be next to nothing.

The last option for a trade would be at quarterback. This one is a stretch, and one a lot of fans wouldn’t like, but if the Vikings take a quarterback somewhat early in this draft, maybe just because one falls to them, they could look to move Kyle Sloter. He has had some moments in the preseason and a lot of teams should be aware of that. John Elway, the GM of his former team the Denver Broncos, was especially sad when the Vikings swooped in and signed him off waivers a few seasons back. He could offer a later round pick to acquire Sloter if the Vikings took a new signal caller in this year’s draft.
