Hakeem Butler – WR (Iowa State)

Only two wide receivers were taken in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft on Thursday. Speedy Marquise “Hollywood” Brown and big Arizona State Sun Devil, N’Keal Harry, were selected.

There will be a lot of talented pass catchers coming off of the board in the second round on Friday and Butler should be one the Vikings keep close tabs on.

At 6-foot-5, 227 pounds, this dude ran his 40-yard dash in under 4.5 seconds. That is absolutely insane. Many figured that alone would get him selected in the first round, but It clearly wasn’t enough. Perhaps the concerns about his route running ability and inconsistent hands scared teams off.

Minnesota needs a third option in the receiving game and they could really use a guy with some size. Butler has that and the speed to boot.

He would give the Vikings something different in their receiving corps and this big and explosive target would take some coverages off of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen while also making life easier for Kirk Cousins.

If Butler falls to pick 50, there’s a good chance his name is on the card that Minnesota will turn in.
