Mack Wilson – LB (Alabama)

The NFL Draft is full of surprises and the fact that Mack Wilson is still on the board just proves that point yet again. This guy is a well-rounded linebacker prospect with good size and overall athletic ability.

Wilson is 6-foot-1, 240 pounds and he moves quite well for a man this size. He can cover as well as get sideline to sideline in a hurry when pursuing ball carriers.

The biggest concern with Wilson is just that he isn’t special. He is very solid in every aspect of the game, but he doesn’t stand out in one area. He also doesn’t have overly impressive stats.

In three seasons with the Crimson Tide, Wilson only had 113 tackles with just one sack. Those are shockingly low totals and the lack of splash plays is reminiscent of current Vikings linebacker Ben Gedeon.

Minnesota could take Wilson with either their fourth-round pick or their newly acquired fifth-rounder. He could be a special teams standout as a rookie and eventually take over the starting job from Gedeon.

A big plus for Wilson is he’s SEC battle-tested and he has faced the best competition college football has to offer. This experience will help him get on the field earlier than many other prospects in this class.
