Charles Omenihu – DL (Texas)

How Charles Omenihu is still available on Day 3 of the Draft is something I’ll be asking myself for years to come. This guy is an absolute beast on the defensive line and he can be an unstoppable force in the middle.

Maybe the reason he’s still available is that teams don’t know where exactly to play him. During his time at Texas, Omenihu played defensive end, defensive tackle, and occasionally played standing up on the outside.

This versatility could be seen as a plus by a lot of teams, but maybe some want him just as an end and don’t think he has the speed or bend to be a consistent pass rushing threat. Others may also question his power as an interior presence.

He was super productive in his career with the Longhorns. He had 30 tackles for a loss and 16.5 sacks during his time at Texas.

Omenihu definitely knows how to get after the quarterback, but he can also play the run. The Vikings have shown a lot of interest in this guy and he could be their first defensive selection of the 2019 NFL Draft, giving Mike Zimmer a new and very versatile toy for his front seven.
