Jaleel Johnson – DT

After Minnesota selected him in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Johnson has yet to do much in a purple and gold uniform. In a reserve role, he’s racked up a total of 14 tackles and 0.5 sacks in 21 appearances.

Johnson will likely be competing to be one of the Vikings’ backup defensive tackles in 2019 and he now has another player to fight off after the team selected Arkansas’ Armon Watts in the sixth round of this year’s draft.

Watts was expected to come off the board as high as the third round during last week’s NFL Draft and Minnesota was somehow able to land him in round six. During his only season as a starter at Arkansas in 2018, the Vikings newest defensive tackle finished with 49 total tackles (8.5 for a loss), seven sacks, and three forced fumbles.

If Johnson is unable to show any progression this summer, Minnesota may just go ahead and roll with the rookie and his potential for 2019 instead.
