Dalvin Cook – RB
Since selecting him in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the Vikings and everyone who roots for them have been waiting for Cook to have a monster season.
So far, his health has been preventing the young running back from playing up to his full potential. Cook has missed a total of 17 games during his first two seasons in Minnesota thanks to a torn ACL in 2017 and a nagging hamstring injury in 2018.
For his third year with the Vikings, Cook will also be working with his third different offensive coordinator. Kevin Stefanski will be running the offense for Minnesota in 2019 with some guidance from new offensive advisor Gary Kubiak.
If the Vikings’ offense performs anything like the Kubiak-influenced offenses of the past, then Cook could be in for a breakout year. In Kubiak’s 22 seasons as an offensive coordinator or a head coach, his offenses have produced a 1,000-yard rusher 15 times (that’s a 68 percent success rate for those wondering at home).
Odds seem to be in Cook’s favor for 2019 and if he’s able to stay healthy, then he should become the first Minnesota running back not named Adrian Peterson to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season since 2006.
