He has no more excuses to fail:

If anyone has been noticing what the Vikings have been doing this offseason, the majority of their moves have centered around making Kirk Cousins’ life easier in 2019.

To help improve their lackluster offensive line, Minnesota signed free agent Josh Kline to be their starting right guard and used this year’s first-round draft pick on former North Carolina State center Garrett Bradbury. The Vikings also added other new blockers through free agency and the draft to improve the overall depth of their offensive line for next season.

With these moves, Minnesota is hoping to avoid Cousins constantly having pressure in his face like he did last year.

In addition to their attempts to improve their line, the Vikings have also been switching to an offensive system that their quarterback has found success with in the past.

Kevin Stefanski has the official title of Minnesota’s offensive coordinator, but the scheme will likely be heavily influenced by new offensive advisor Gary Kubiak. During his time with the Redskins, Cousins worked with a number of coaches from the Mike Shanahan tree, something Kubiak is also a part of.

Minnesota was also able to add a few more weapons to their offense during this year’s draft. Even as rookies, tight end Irv Smith Jr. and running back Alexander Mattison should be able to make Cousins’ job a little easier in 2019.

With an offseason full of decisions made with their quarterback in mind, the Vikings are doing everything they can to help Cousins succeed in 2019. If he fails to live up to expectations again next season, then he may just not be the right quarterback for Minnesota moving forward.
