The current Minnesota Vikings cornerback is apparently taking part in a speed competition this summer run by former NFL wide receiver, Chad Johnson.

Entering the final year of his current contract, Minnesota Vikings cornerback Trae Waynes will be using a portion of this offseason to take part in a competition that will supposedly crown the fastest player in the NFL.

Waynes, along with a number of other current players from around the league, will be participating in an event known as the 40 Yards of Gold All-Star Speed Tournament this summer. Based on the commercial that was posted online on Sunday, former NFL receiver Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson appears to at least be hosting the competition.

In this event, the Vikings cornerback will be racing against some of the fastest guys in the league including Ted Ginn Jr., Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Corey Coleman, Richie James, Jerome Baker, John Franklin III, Robby Anderson, and Rashard Robinson.

During the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine, Waynes ran his 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.31 seconds. So one has to believe he has a pretty good shot at winning this speed competition.

His name wasn’t included among the players participating, but another current member of Minnesota’s roster appears to also want in on this summer’s speed showdown. Vikings wide receiver Jeff Badet, who clocked in at 4.27 seconds during his 40-yard dash at Oklahoma’s Pro Day last year, has also expressed interest in competing in the event.

NFL players are always training super hard during the offseason, so this is a fun way for them to stay in shape and also participate in a unique competition.
