Derrick Brown – DL (Auburn)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-5 | Weight: 318 pounds

2018 Stats:

  • 48 tackles (10.5 for a loss)
  • 4.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble

Many were surprised that Brown didn’t enter the most recent NFL Draft. Despite being considered among the five best defensive tackle prospects in 2019, he decided to put off the NFL for one more year and return to Auburn for his senior season.

When he eventually makes the leap to the professional level, most believe Brown will fit best as a three-technique in a 4-3 defense. He’s an exceptional pass rusher and he does well against the run also.

Why Brown could end up on the Vikings:

Depending on how Shamar Stephen performs next season, Minnesota could be in the market for a new pass-rushing defensive tackle by the time the 2020 NFL Draft rolls around.

The Vikings are hoping that Stephen or someone else on their roster will step up and make up for the loss of Sheldon Richardson next season. But if not, Minnesota could try and draft Brown in 2020 to pair on the inside of their defensive line with Linval Joseph.
