Grant Delpit – S (LSU)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-3 | Weight: 203 pounds

2018 Stats:

  • 74 tackles (9.5 for a loss), 5 sacks
  • 9 pass breakups, 5 interceptions, 1 forced fumble

As a sophomore in 2018, Delpit was already one of the top defensive backs in the nation. His play last year earned him First-Team All-American and First-Team All-SEC selections.

Delpit can basically do it all on defense. He can rush the quarterback, break up passes in coverage, and stuff an opposing running back behind the line of scrimmage. Delpit has the potential to develop into one of the best safeties the NFL has ever seen.

Why Delpit could end up on the Vikings:

Minnesota is taking a chance on Anthony Harris at the second safety spot next to Harrison Smith next season. Harris performed well in place of Andrew Sendejo last year and it was enough to convince the Vikings to keep him around for 2019.

If Harris goes back to performing more like a reserve than a starter next season though, then Minnesota may be interested in drafting Delpit in 2020.
