Chase Young – DE (Ohio State)

Measurements:

  • Height: 6-foot-5 | Weight: 265 pounds

2018 Stats:

  • 33 tackles (14.5 for a loss), 9.5 sacks
  • 5 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble

As a sophomore last season, Young stepped in for an injured Nick Bosa and he performed very well. He took advantage of his new role at Ohio State last year and he ended up finishing 2018 as one of the Big Ten’s top sack leaders.

For a school that has had two defensive ends be selected with a top-five pick in the NFL Draft since 2016, Young has the potential to have the same outcome happen for him in 2020.

Why Young could end up on the Vikings:

At 31-years-old, Everson Griffen is nearing the end of his time as one of the top pass rushers in the NFL. No one would be surprised if Griffen was able to produce at a high level for three or four more seasons, but it just doesn’t seem likely.

If Minnesota is looking to move on from their veteran pass rusher next year, Young could be a guy the team looks into as a potential replacement for him in 2020.
