7 best moves of the Minnesota Vikings’ 2019 offseason

2. Extending Adam Thielen
There isn’t much that has been more enjoyable than watching the journey of Thielen during the past few years.
He’s gone from a guy on the Vikings’ practice squad to one of the best wide receivers in the NFL in the matter of a few seasons. It wasn’t really anything that was expected, but Thielen has worked his tail off to get where he is today.
For the 2019 season, the Minnesota receiver was scheduled to make around $8 million. That was an embarrassingly low amount of money for a player like Thielen who is coming off of two straight years with at least 1,000 receiving yards.
So what did the Vikings do for the guy who grew up rooting for the franchise in his hometown of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota? They awarded him with a nice four-year, $64 million extension this offseason.
With his new deal, Thielen will make around $14 million in 2019. This amount now puts him on par with the rest of the top receivers in the NFL.
Minnesota now has Thielen and Stefon Diggs signed through the 2023 season. With these two on the field for the next few years, the Vikings’ have the chance to be very successful.
