How will the Kyle Rudolph situation be handled?

Over the past couple of weeks, the Kyle Rudolph situation took a massive turn for the worse.

After the Vikings used a second-round pick on Irv Smith Jr., many assumed that the 29-year-old tight end’s days in a Minnesota uniform were numbered. But then a report came out that the team has offered him a five-year extension, which he has yet to agree to.

For now, Rudolph has said he will report to the Vikings’ OTAs this week. But there will certainly be the uncertainty of the situation hanging over his head from now until it is all resolved.

During this wave of OTAs, it might be interesting to see if anything leaks about where the Vikings are using Smith and if they are taking advantage of the rookie’s versatility.

Creativity will be key if Rudolph remains in a Minnesota uniform for 2019. If Smith can also prove he can line up and be effective at different positions, it will be a wrinkle that the Vikings’ offense was sorely lacking a year ago.
