Kirk Cousins first season with the Minnesota Vikings was a bit of a mixed bag. The team, fans, and everyone who loves the Purple will hope he can improve in 2019, but can he?

Kirk Cousins came to the Minnesota Vikings a year ago after agreeing to a fully guaranteed, $84 million contract. With that huge contract came huge expectations.

Statistically, Cousins played well in 2018 with the Vikings, throwing for 4,298 yards, 30 touchdowns, and just 10 interceptions. That turned out to be good enough for a 99.6 quarterback rating.

The problem was that Minnesota finished the season with a disappointing 8-7-1 record. It wasn’t good enough to get them into the playoffs, which was the entire point of paying all that money to sign Cousins.

There are many reasons why the veteran quarterback couldn’t take the Vikings to the top of the division and into the playoffs last season though.

This offseason, Minnesota made moves in free agency and at the NFL Draft to ensure that wouldn’t be a problem again in 2019. These moves should make life easier for Cousins next season, but maybe it still won’t be enough.

So in his second season with the Vikings, will Cousins perform better or worse than he did in 2018?
