One notable NFL analyst believes that 2019 will be the season that finally ends with the Minnesota Vikings capturing their first-ever Super Bowl win.
Throughout their history, the Minnesota Vikings have a been able to rack up a number of impressive accomplishments. However, there has always been one thing that has eluded the Vikings during their existence as an NFL franchise.
Of the 53 Super Bowls to take place since 1966, none of them have ended with Minnesota getting the victory. The Vikings have played in a total of four Super Bowls in their history, but it has been over 40 years since they last appeared one.
Minnesota came close to reaching the Super Bowl in 2017 and then they fell way short of their championship goals in 2018. So is there a chance that 2019 could finally be the year the Vikings get back to the big game?
Well, at least one notable NFL analyst believes so.
NFL Media’s David Carr was recently asked to choose one head coach from around the league who has the best shot at winning the first Super Bowl of their career next season. Carr went ahead and picked Minnesota head coach Mike Zimmer as the guy he believes could end 2019 in a sea of confetti while raising the Vince Lombardi trophy in the air.
A big reason for why Carr selected Zimmer and the Vikings as his choice is due to the team’s hiring of Gary Kubiak in the offseason.
"“This offense will undoubtedly be better with Gary Kubiak and Kevin Stefanski running the show. Cousins played some of his best football in Washington under Kyle Shanahan, whose offense is a clone of Kubiak’s. Kubiak won a ring as Denver’s head coach in 2015, and now he helps Zim get his.”"
His prediction really isn’t that crazy. Minnesota had Super Bowl potential a year ago and a big reason why they failed to meet their expectations was due to an incompetent offensive coordinator.
For 2019, the Vikings will have a very similar roster to what they put out on the field last season and their offense will now be led by a guy in Kubiak who has experienced a lot of success in his NFL coaching career.
Carr may not always have the greatest takes in the world (especially about a certain former San Francisco 49ers quarterback). But let’s just hope his thoughts about Zimmer and Minnesota end up coming true in 2019.
