Can Kirk Cousins improve this season?

Last year, Kirk Cousins wasn’t a bad quarterback at all. He set two career-highs in 2018 by throwing 30 touchdowns last seasons as well as completing 70.1 percent of his passes with the Vikings.

However, he faced many problems last season as well, including a struggling offensive line which wasn’t faring particularly well in either pass protection or opening up holes to allow a running game to take the pressure off Cousins.

This season, the Minnesota Vikings went out and did everything they could to help Cousins. They acquired starting caliber offensive line talent, drafted a new target in the passing game, and landed one of the toughest running backs in the NFL Draft. But will all that be enough?

It should be, but not every season can be one where career-highs are set. In fact, if the Vikings can establish a run game this year, Cousins’ stats might even decrease in 2018. However, the real number of importance will be team wins, which would be great to see go up.

Secondary question: Is the team screwed if Kirk Cousins goes down?

Last season, fans were uneasy with Trevor Siemian being the team’s backup. This year, it looks like that duty will go to Sean Mannion, who has never thrown an NFL touchdown…but has thrown an interception. Let’s just knock on wood or cross our fingers that Kirk stays healthy.
