Will Pat Elflein be successful at guard?

When the Minnesota Vikings drafted Pat Elflein in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, they had to be hoping they had their center of the future locked down. Two years later, it looks like the position is already going to someone else.

With the drafting of pure center Garrett Bradbury, it seems inevitable that Elflein will move from center to guard. That move could pay dividends for the former guard in college guard. In fact, he has already moved to guard for OTAs.

There are reports that he’s been working hard to gain strength for the 2019 season and that would help even more. After grading out offensively with a Pro Football Focus score of 41.9, there is plenty of room for improvement.

Secondary question: Was Brian O’Neill’s success a fluke last year?

Last year, Brian O’Neill was highly impressive when being plugged in at right tackle when Rashod Hill went down with an injury. Now, he’s had an offseason to get bigger and stronger to prove that his play wasn’t a fluke. Hopefully, he can repeat his success.
