The Minnesota Vikings ascending running back hasn’t lived up to the hype due to injuries, but 2019 is shaping up to be his best season yet.

When the Minnesota Vikings selected Dalvin Cook in the second round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the team had high hopes for the Florida State running back.

Tabbed as the person with the task of filling Adrian Peterson‘s shoes, Cook’s big-play ability in the running and passing game was something Minnesota had coveted and they had big plans for him beginning in his rookie year.

Two years into the Dalvin Cook experience, those visions haven’t come into focus. Cook’s rookie season began with a bang, but fizzled out thanks to a torn ACL. He came back in time for his sophomore campaign in 2018, but a hamstring injury threw water on that fire and he didn’t have as big of an impact as many expected.

Cook’s third season will be an important one as the 23-year-old running back needs to show something for a prolonged stretch in order to get a second contract from the Vikings. The good news is that with all of the moves and changes that Minnesota has made this offseason, 2019 might be the year we finally see a breakout from Cook.

What are few reasons to help explain why the young running back may be heading into his best year as a member of the Vikings?
