Predicting how former Vikings will do with their new teams in 2019

Latavius Murray – RB (New Orleans Saints)
Latavius Murray shockingly signed with New Orleans and received a four-year deal. That is pretty surprising for a back who is almost 30-years-old. Murray now becomes part of the explosive Sean Payton offense led by Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees. What kind of role will Murray have in New Orleans and how he will fit into that offense is the big question.
To answer that the best thing we can do is look at the role and numbers Mark Ingram had last year. Essentially Murray is taking over Ingram’s role as the power/change of pace back from bell cow Alvin Kamara.
Ingram missed the first four games of the season due to suspension. He was still able to tote the rock 138 times and tallied 645 yards on the ground with six touchdowns. That is a pretty impressive number for just 12 games of work.
Ingram was averaging about 12 carries a game last season. It’s safe to say Murray will see about the same. The Saints offensive line is better than the Vikings was a season ago and that isn’t up for debate. Murray should do very well in his first season in New Orleans and produce numbers that are very much in line with what Ingram posted last year.
Prediction:
- 705 rushing yards, 6 touchdowns
- 18 receptions, 138 receiving yards
