4 former Vikings who deserve to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
By Adam Patrick
Kevin Williams – DT
Used more on the edge during the early portion of his career, Williams eventually shifted to the inside of the defensive line and developed into one of the top defensive tackles in the NFL.
One half of the “Willams Wall”, he earned five First-Team All-Pro selections from 2004 to 2009. During his career, Williams was selected for more All-Pro teams than Warren Sapp, Cortez Kennedy, and Joe Greene, who are all former NFL defensive tackles that have been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
In addition to his All-Pro selections, Williams also earned six trips to the Pro Bowl. He was a fixture in the Vikings’ defense for a number of years and he was a big reason for why the team was the absolute best in the league at defending the run for three straight seasons from 2006 to 2008.
Williams was never really a flashy-type of player on the field as he just let his impressive play do the talking for him. He may not be very familiar to the casual football fan, but those who cover the game for a living know that the former Minnesota defensive tackle deserves some consideration for the Hall of Fame when he becomes eligible.
