Chuck Foreman – RB

If not for an unfortunate knee injury, Foreman would probably already be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The start of his career with the Vikings got off to a blazing start. Foreman earned five Pro Bowl invites and one First-Team All-Pro selection in his first five seasons with Minnesota. He also won the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 1973.

From 1973 to 1977, Foreman averaged over 1,450 total yards and 13 touchdowns per season. He was just as much of a threat as a receiver out of the backfield as he was a ball-carrier. Even as a running back, he actually led all NFL players in 1975 with 73 catches.

However, Foreman suffered a knee injury in 1979 and his career was never the same. Still, what he was able to do in his first six seasons with the Vikings is something that deserves consideration for the Hall of Fame.

Voters had no problem inducting running backs Terrell Davis and Gale Sayers into the Hall Fame despite their short careers. Foreman’s numbers are comparable to those two backs, so why isn’t he in Canton as well?
