Randall Cunningham – QB

Like Donovan McNabb, Cunningham was a very good quarterback during the prime of his NFL career. Unlike McNabb, however, Cunningham’s impact on the league was much more important.

Once he became a starter for the Philadelphia Eagles in the late 1980s, the former Vikings quarterback quickly emerged as one of the NFL’s most versatile signal-callers. Cunningham was a lethal weapon as both a rusher and a passer.

Currently, his 4,928 career rushing yards are the second-most by a quarterback in the history of the league.

As one of the few black quarterbacks in the NFL during his playing days, he also proved a lot of doubters wrong. Without Cunningham achieving success during his pro career, the league might have never seen guys like Michael Vick, Cam Newton, or Russell Wilson step onto their fields.

In terms of someone who helped the game of football evolve thanks to his time in the NFL, Cunningham is definitely a player who deserves consideration for the Hall of Fame.
