4 former Vikings who deserve to be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame
By Adam Patrick
Jared Allen – DE
When he eventually becomes eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021, it’s hard to imagine Allen not getting enshrined within his first few years on the ballot.
Prior to his arrival to Minnesota, Allen was a very talented pass rusher for the Kansas City Chiefs. But once he put that Vikings uniform on in 2008, he seemed to take his game to an even higher level.
With Minnesota from 2008 to 2013, Allen earned three First-Team All-Pro selections, four Pro Bowl invitations, and he racked up a total of 85.5 sacks. In 2011, he was a pass rushing machine as he finished with a very impressive 22 sacks, just short of the NFL’s all-time single-season record.
During the entirety of his career, Allen wound up with a total of 136 sacks. He is one of only 15 players since 1982 to finish their time in the league with more than 130 sacks. Of these 15 players, nine have already been inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Will Allen be the next? If he is, all that we ask is that his bronze bust comes fully equipped with a beautiful mullet.
