The former Minnesota Vikings running back is currently with the Washington Redskins and he is entering his 13th season in the NFL.

It’s that time in the offseason again where former Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson gives his thoughts on how he’s still capable of doing everything out on the field that he did when he was 10 years younger.

Around this time in 2018, Peterson claimed that he was still the best running back in the NFL despite his lack of production in 2016 and 2017. This year, the former Vikings rusher is back on his personal hype-train and making more ridiculous predictions for his future.

Peterson recently spoke with NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero and revealed how many rushing yards he believes he is capable of gaining next season as a 34-year-old running back.

"“I got my mark set at 2,000 (yards), I’ve always had it at that mark since I stepped into the league. So that’s where it’s at.”"

It’s nice that the former Minnesota running back sets such high goals for himself. How about he sets his goals to be a little bit more attainable though instead? Otherwise, he just sounds foolish.

At the same time, Peterson has proven a lot of his doubters wrong over the last few seasons. Many thought his career in the NFL was basically over after his disappointing 2016 campaign with the Vikings. But Peterson has managed to still keep his football career going.

With the Redskins last season, he finished with 1,042 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. With his totals from last year, Peterson became the fourth running back in the league’s history to rush for over 1,000 yards at the age of 33 or older.

Is he the same back that he was during the early portion of his career? No, of course not. But he can he still be a productive piece of an offense in the NFL and the Redskins are hoping he’s still got at least another decent season or two left in the tank.
