9. Doug Davis, OT – 1966

There was a lot of success surrounding Doug Davis at a young age. He was a National High School All American All-Star who earned his way to the NCAA, where he immediately became an impact player for the Kentucky Wildcats.

He slipped to the fifth round of the draft, where the Vikings used Pick 72 overall to grab him. Davis contributed right away, playing in 13 games during his rookie season and starting 12 contests at right tackle.

He was a member of the team which went on to become the backup for Pro Football Hall of Fame right tackle Ron Yary and was a key part of the offensive line which helped the squad win the NFL Championship in 1969.

Sadly, Doug Davis passed away in 2011 at the age of 66. However, he will always be remembered for the seven seasons he spent with the team where he played in a total of 79 games, starting 41 of them.
