Kyle Rudolph’s ‘only goal’ now is to win a championship for Minnesota
By Adam Patrick
The veteran tight end spoke on Tuesday about his new contract extension and the goals he has for the Minnesota Vikings moving forward.
For the past few months, Kyle Rudolph’s future with the Minnesota Vikings had more doubt surrounding it than ever before. There was an actual possibility that Rudolph had already played his last game in a Vikings uniform.
However, Minnesota and their longtime tight end figured out a way to agree to an extension and now he is under contract with the Vikings until 2024.
Speaking with the local Twin Cities media on Tuesday about his new deal, Rudolph emphasized what his main goal is for the rest of his career in Minnesota.
"“I have unfinished business and that business is bringing the first championship here to this organization and the state of Minnesota. That’s my only goal at this point.Being the best leader and the best football player that I can be so that this team can win a championship and we can do something that’s never been done in this organization.”"
He also mentioned how the Vikings were so close to getting to the Super Bowl in 2017 and how that experience will motivate him even more for the future.
Minnesota certainly has the pieces to put together a championship run during the upcoming season. The majority of their players from that run they made in 2017 are still on the roster for 2019 and there’s no reason to believe that they cannot achieve a similar amount of success next season.
It may not necessarily be labeled a “Super Bowl or bust” year for the Vikings in 2019, but everyone involved with the organization knows next season will be disappointing if it doesn’t end with a championship.
Minnesota has been constructing their current roster for the past few years to get to this point where they can be a consistent contender. Now it’s up to the players and coaches to get the job done and deliver the Vikings their first-ever Super Bowl win.
