The Minnesota Vikings tight end is entering his fourth season with the team and he is expected to be healthy enough in time to participate in training camp.

When it came time to make their first of two sixth-round picks in the 2016 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings decided to select German wide receiver Moritz Böhringer. Eight picks later, the Vikings were on the clock again and this time they went with UTSA tight end David Morgan.

Fast forward to now and Morgan is still on Minnesota’s roster while Böhringer is a member of the Cincinnati Bengals where he’s attempting to make a position switch to tight end.

During the past three seasons, Morgan has quickly developed into the Vikings’ best blocking tight end on their roster. He’s essentially been a sixth offensive lineman for Minnesota since he arrived in 2016.

This year, Morgan has not been a participant in any of the Vikings’ OTA or minicamp practices. The assumption for why he’s been out of action is that he’s currently dealing with an injury and apparently, that is actually true.

According to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero on Friday, the Minnesota tight end recently had arthroscopic surgery to repair a knee injury he has been dealing with since last season.

Despite his non-participation in the Vikings’ practice sessions over the last few weeks, Morgan is expected to be recovered in time to take part in the team’s training camp this summer.

The tight end’s knee was a big enough issue for him last year that it kept him on the sidelines for five of Minnesota’s games. Hopefully, after this recent surgical procedure, Morgan will be able to play in the majority of the Vikings’ 2019 season.
