After winning an ESPY for the Minneapolis Miracle last year, the Minnesota Vikings did not receive a single nomination for the 2019 awards show.

2017 was an exciting season for the Minnesota Vikings. Not only did the team make a deep run in the playoffs but they had arguably the most exciting play in franchise history happen against the New Orleans Saints when Case Keenum connected with Stefon Diggs to get an unlikely victory in the divisional round of the playoffs.

The Minneapolis Miracle won several awards, including an ESPY award for Best Moment and Webby for the social media efforts covering the moment. However, 2018 didn’t bring nearly as much excitement to the team or to the fans and that resulted in the franchise not getting as much attention in terms of honors this offseason.

Recently, ESPN revealed their nominees for the 2019 ESPYS and sadly, there were no Vikings to be seen. That had to be expected since there were no miracle plays and the team ended with a disappointing 8-7-1 record.

The closest Minnesota likely came to getting a nod was for their Week 4 shootout against the Los Angeles Rams. But it’s no surprise that the choice for the NFL’s representative in the Best Game category is the Rams and Chiefs game from Monday Night Football which saw 105 total points be scored.

That doesn’t mean there aren’t other great NFL options to cheer for at the ESPYS this year. For example, Saquon Barkley of the Giants is up for Best Breakthrough Athlete, Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs is nominated for Best Male Athlete, and more.

Fan voting is open for the 2019 ESPYS. Although the Minnesota Vikings aren’t nominated there should still be plenty for sports fans to enjoy during the awards show which airs on July 10, on ABC.
