5 Vikings to watch heading into their 2019 training camp

Dru Samia – OG
After last year’s debacle, all eyes will be fixated on how the offensive line rebounds from a horrid 2018 season. The Minnesota Vikings have already made solid moves to correct this problem as they drafted Garrett Bradbury in the first round of the NFL Draft, moved Pat Elflein from center to left guard and signed Josh Kline to play right guard.
On the surface, the Vikings offensive line should be much improved than it was last year. However, fourth-round pick Dru Samia will be looking to shake things up even more.
Samia is a guard that projects to be a perfect fit in offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski’s zone inspired scheme. His athleticism allows him to get from Point A to Point B quickly and his mean streak, which was shown in him picking a fight with Alabama’s Quinnen Williams in January, is something that this line could use.
That’s what makes him so interesting heading into training camp. Although the Vikings have already signed Kline and paid him starter’s money, it’s not set in stone that he will be the guy at the end of 2019 or even come Week 1.
If Samia can get a strong impression in camp, he could push for a starting spot and become another strong addition to the Minnesota Vikings offensive line.
