The former Minnesota Vikings quarterback recently commented on the rumors of him making a comeback to the NFL at the age of 49.

At the ripe age of 40, Brett Favre was able to put together one of the most impressive seasons in the history of Minnesota Vikings.

With the Vikings in 2009, Favre threw for 4,202 yards, 33 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Before Tom Brady came along and ruined everything, no other quarterback aged 40-years-old or older was able to put up the kind of numbers Favre did for Minnesota during that magical 2009 season.

Now 49-years-old, the former Vikings quarterback recently caused a commotion with a post on his Instagram account that seemed to indicate he was making a comeback to the NFL in 2020. The post was deleted shortly after it went up and Favre eventually revealed that his account was hacked.

Still, would anyone really be surprised if he actually was attempting to play in the league again? Probably not.

Favre was asked on Saturday about the post and if there is any chance of him making a return to the NFL as a player in the future.

"“I got hacked. Somebody obviously doesn’t have a lot to do. But the last thing I want to do is stir the pot. The last thing I want to do is come back and play. No offense, it was fun, then. So, I’m not coming back.”"

So, for anyone who had been holding out hope for Favre to one day play in the NFL again, that bubble has officially been burst.

Part of the reason why his post was semi-believable when it went up was because it’s not hard to imagine the former Vikings quarterback actually doing something like this. Honestly, he would probably still be a better option under center for a few teams around the league in 2019.

But for a guy who is almost 50-years-old and hasn’t played a snap in the NFL since 2010, even Favre knows that continuing to enjoy his retirement is a much better decision to make than attempting any sort of comeback.
