Bleacher Report recently ranked every coaching staff in the NFL and the Minnesota Vikings were left outside of the top 10.

Since Mike Zimmer was hired as the team’s head coach in 2014, the Minnesota Vikings have won the third-most games out of all the teams in the NFC. Only the Seattle Seahawks (51) and the Dallas Cowboys (48) have more wins than the Vikings (47) during the last five seasons.

Despite the fact that Minnesota has only made the playoffs twice during his tenure, Zimmer has made sure that his team is at least in the hunt for the postseason every year.

Unfortunately, the Vikings’ success under Zimmer isn’t impressive to everyone. Recently, Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport ranked all 32 of the NFL’s current coaching staffs and Minnesota’s group of coaches came in at No. 14 on the list.

Ahead of the Vikings on Davenport’s rankings are teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Baltimore Ravens, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers, and Chicago Bears.

So the Bears have had one season with Matt Nagy as their head coach and he’s already considered one of the best in the league? Maybe see how Chicago does in year two with Nagy before crowning him one of the top head coaches in the NFL.

As for Minnesota, their spot at No. 14 is disappointing, but it also seems pretty fair. The Vikings have always seemed to be a play or two away from getting a win or a loss during Zimmer’s tenure and so far this playing style has only resulted in two playoff appearances since 2014.

Perhaps with a revamped offensive coaching staff that now includes former Denver Broncos and Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak, Minnesota will be able to win some games in 2019 by more than just a few points.

If this doesn’t happen and the Vikings end up missing the postseason again this year though, then Zimmer might be forced to look for a new job in 2020.
