1999: Daunte Culpepper, quarterback – Round 1 (Pick 11 overall)

With so many other great pieces in place for the Minnesota Vikings, the team went out and got a quarterback to put it all together and hopefully get the team over the hump when it comes to a Super Bowl win.

Daunte Culpepper quickly endeared himself to fans of the purple and gold by showing off his big arm and accuracy as well as his positive and fun-loving persona on the field. He was the leader of a massively talented offensive team that could score points at will.

His 20,162 passing yards for Minnesota make him third all-time in franchise history, behind only Fran Tarkenton and Tommy Kramer. He also sits behind those two passers on the all-time list in passing touchdowns, ending his Vikings career with 135 touchdown throws.

If not for some devastating injuries that kept him off the field, Culpepper could have been on track to be even greater than he was. However, Vikings fans are still lucky they had him around while they did.

Honorable mention: Jim Kleinsasser, TE – North Dakota (Round 2)
