6 players the Vikings should have never let get away

Robert Griffith – S
Undrafted out of San Diego State, Robert Griffith is one of the most talented defenders to suit up for the Vikings over the last 30 years.
Griffith was a staple in Minnesota’s defense during the late 90s and early 2000s. Once he was able to crack the starting lineup in 1996, he seemed to always find his way to the opposing ball-carrier.
But after eight seasons with the Vikings, Griffith became a free agent in 2002 and he signed with the Cleveland Browns. He went on to play for three years with the Browns and then two more with the Arizona Cardinals before retiring in 2008.
In his first season with the Browns in 2002, Griffith finished with 73 tackles, seven pass breakups, and three interceptions. That year, Cleveland went on to make the playoffs and they haven’t been back since.
Griffith followed up his first season with the Browns by racking up 92 tackles in 2003 and 118 tackles in 2004. He clearly had plenty remaining in the tank when he left the Vikings.
