6 players the Vikings should have never let get away
By Adam Patrick
Randy Moss – WR
Second to the Herschel Walker debacle, the Vikings trading Randy Moss in 2005 to the Oakland Raiders has to be one of the dumbest decisions in the history of the franchise.
Minnesota traded away Moss, who was not only their best player at the time, but he was also still in the prime of his career.
Two years after he was traded by the Vikings, the freakish pass catcher set the league’s all-time record for touchdown receptions in a single season when he hauled in 23 as a member of the New England Patriots in 2007.
Minnesota tried to bring back Moss for a second stint in 2010. But it lasted for a whole four games before he was back to being unemployed by the Vikings.
There were zero benefits to Minnesota trading Moss in 2005. He was too talented of a player at that point in his career for the Vikings to just basically give up on him.
When Moss was setting NFL records in 2007, it should have been in a Minnesota uniform and not with the Patriots.
