The Kansas City Chiefs apparently had interest in the young wide receiver before he was eventually drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2016.

It’s pretty hard to come up with anything to describe Laquon Treadwell’s tenure with the Minnesota Vikings other than horrible.

Selected by the Vikings in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Treadwell has accumulated a grand total of one touchdown in his three-year career. Danielle Hunter and Eric Kendricks have each found the end zone twice since 2016 and they don’t even play on the offensive side of the ball for Minnesota.

With the Vikings deciding to not to pick up Treadwell’s fifth-year option, it’s likely that the upcoming season will be his last in the Twin Cities if he’s able to make the team’s final roster.

If 2019 does end up being his final year with Minnesota, where might he end up in 2020? Who knows at this point, but there may be one specific team that is keeping a close eye on Treadwell during the upcoming season.

Arrowhead Addict’s Matt Conner recently brought up the fact that the Kansas City Chiefs reportedly tried to trade up in the 2016 NFL Draft to select the current Vikings receiver. Conner also suggests that the Chiefs should even look into what it would cost for the team to acquire Treadwell from Minnesota this year.

Kansas City’s wide receiver depth is definitely not the best in the league and it could take a big hit shortly if Tyreek Hill is suspended by the NFL (which is expected to happen).

But even if the Chiefs don’t end up trading for Treadwell this year, they could still be a destination for him in 2020 when he becomes a free agent.

Kansas City’s interest in him during the 2016 draft makes it easy to believe that they would be willing to at least give the young receiver a shot in the near future.
