1. Bobby Bryant and Nate Wright (1973, 1975, 1977-1978)

  • 4 seasons
  • 35 interceptions
  • 8 fumbles recovered
  • 2 touchdowns
  • 116 starts

The top cornerback duo in Minnesota Vikings’ history belongs to Bobby Bryant and Nate Wright. This is Bryant’s second appearance in the ranking. Twice named to the Pro Bowl, Bryant played his entire 13-year career with the Vikings making 128 starts. His 51 interceptions are only two less than Paul Krause had for the Vikings.

Nate Wright joined the Vikings in 1971 after two seasons split between Atlanta and St. Louis. He broke into the starting lineup in 1973 and started 85 of 86 games over the next six seasons, four of those playing with Bryant in the Vikings defensive backfield. He played 10 seasons with the Vikings starting 100 of 156 games.

Despite injuries to Bryant interrupted this duo’s time together in 1974 and 1976, the four seasons they played together is the most of any in Vikings history as starting cornerbacks. Their combined average of 29 starts per season in these four years is the second-most in the ranking behind Carl Lee and Audray McMillian who averaged 32 over two seasons.

Their best season came in 1978 when they combined for 12 interceptions, seven for Bryant and five for Wright. Both players’ careers ended with the Vikings in 1980.

Over the entire 58 seasons of Minnesota Vikings history, no other cornerback duo has played as many seasons together as starters as Bryant and Wright.
