It was revealed on Tuesday that the preseason matchup between the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals will be airing live on the NFL Network.

It won’t be long before the Minnesota Vikings are back on the football field to kick off their 2019 preseason against the New Orleans Saints. The Vikings’ matchup with the Saints will be the first opportunity for Minnesota’s fans to see their favorite team play in an actual game since last year’s disappointing season finale.

Obviously, the Vikings’ preseason game against New Orleans is just an exhibition. But it will be just another sign that meaningful football is getting even closer for Minnesota.

The Vikings’ first preseason matchup of 2019 against the Saints will only be broadcast locally. But after an announcement on Tuesday, Minnesota now has two preseason games that will air nationally.

NFL Network has revealed that they will be airing a total of 13 NFL preseason matchups live this year, including the Vikings’ third preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. This contest will take place inside U.S. Bank Stadium on Saturday, August 24 at 1 p.m. ET.

The third preseason matchup is typically known as the “dress rehearsal” for each team before the start of the regular season. So Minnesota’s starters will likely remain on the field for the entirety of the first half against the Cardinals, if not longer.

This matchup is one of two Vikings preseason games that will be broadcast nationally this year. The other is Minnesota’s second preseason contest with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, August 18 and it will air at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
