Kick Returner and Punt Returner

Participants: Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Zylstra, Chad Beebe, Davion Davis (R), Dillion Mitchell (R), Holton Hill, Jeff Badet, Jordan Taylor, Mike Hughes, Olabisi Johnson (R)

If not for Mike Hughes still recovering from a torn ACL, he would likely be the easy choice to pick as the Vikings’ kick returner for 2019. But with Holton Hill suspended for the first four games of the season, Minnesota may want to keep Hughes exclusively on defense for their first few matchups in order to avoid him getting too overworked and risk him sustaining another injury.

Abdullah has the most experience out of anyone in this group as a kick returner at the NFL level, which should give him an edge in this battle. But keep an eye on someone like Jeff Badet to sneak in and win the job.

Who the Vikings’ punt returner will be in 2019 will likely be between Chad Beebe, Davion Davis, and Jordan Taylor.

Taylor has the most experience returning punts in the NFL. But if Minnesota is looking for a player for the role who excels at making quick cuts and juking defenders, then Beebe or Davis would be a better choice for the job.
