A Minnesota Vikings fan made a friendly wager that the wide receiver would never make a Pro Bowl, but after two appearances, he finally paid up.

If there is one lesson that you can learn in life, never make a bet involving a tattoo. Too many times, a guy makes a bet with his buddies to put something on his body that he thinks will never happen and the next second he’s getting a picture of a unicorn or “I suck at fantasy football” inscribed on the lower half of his back.

Unfortunately, these things do happen and for one fan of the Minnesota Vikings, a bet against Adam Thielen led to him getting a tattoo of the All-Pro wide receiver’s face on his arm.

Vikings fan Jonny Christensen made this mistake four years ago while he was watching training camp in Mankato with a friend of his. According to the bet, if Thielen ever made the Pro Bowl, he agreed to get a tattoo of his face on his body. At the time, Thielen was just a special teamer trying to make the team and achieve the title of Mr. Mankato and for the first couple of years, it appeared that Christensen’s arm would remain untouched.

That wouldn’t last in 2017, however, as Thielen turned an explosive stretch at the end of 2016 into his first Pro Bowl season with 91 catches for 1,276 yards and four touchdowns. For good measure, Thielen would come back with an even better season in 2018 as he caught 113 passes for 1,373 yards and nine touchdowns for his second Pro Bowl season.

With the writing on the wall, Christensen paid up on his bet earlier this week and unlike most tattoo bets, the portrait of Thielen actually looks pretty good according to an Instagram post from Scotty Munster of Olde Town Tattoo in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Although the tattoo looks pretty cool, it’s still another lesson to be learned. Don’t ever make a tattoo bet unless you’re prepared to go through with it — even if it is a Viking related tattoo.
