Quarterbacks (3)

The roster of the Minnesota Vikings is very deep again, so there is always a chance this will finally be the year the team rolls with their starter and one backup. However, given the team’s history, it is more realistic to see three passers on the roster this year.

Here are the players expected to make the roster from this positional grouping:

  1. Kirk Cousins
  2. Sean Mannion
  3. Kyle Sloter

The Vikings have four quarterbacks in camp, and each one should get a contract. Of course, the most obvious here is Cousins, who the team paid a ton of money to take the team deep into the playoffs. With some more support on the offensive line and improved weapons around him, this could be a great year for the team’s starter.

Meanwhile, expect to see Sloter attempting to take the backup job from Mannion. Although the latter has more NFL experience, he hasn’t been very impressive when his number has been called. On the other hand, Sloter seems ready to tackle a bigger role and has looked good in his preseason efforts.

Browning showed a ton of potential in college but will need a bit of time to adjust to the NFL. While the other QBs battle for a spot on the depth chart, the winner of that fight will likely join Browning on the 53 next year. For now, it’s the practice squad for him.

Barely missed the cut: Kyle Sloter
