Tight Ends (4)

With the future of the team’s veteran tight end now set with the Minnesota Vikings and several young players on the roster behind him, the look of the team for the 2019 season looks pretty solid but past that it’s up in the air.

Here are the players expected to make the roster from this positional grouping:

  1. Kyle Rudolph
  2. Irv Smith Jr.
  3. David Morgan
  4. Tyler Conklin

With Rudolph’s contract, he is getting paid like a top-5 NFL tight end. Sadly, he’s not quite there in terms of his production of blocking or receiving…so there is quite a bit for him to prove as he enters his 30-year-old season.

The team’s best blocking tight end is in the final year of his contract. Minnesota should be trying to figure out a way to retain his services since they drafted a pass-catching tight end in the second round this year in Smith and Conklin still has a lot to prove.

Still, this is a really good unit that should be very helpful to the Minnesota Vikings offense. Whether it is helping the receivers or the offensive line, there is enough talent to do anything that is asked of them…but the only question is whether or not that will happen on the football field.
