Minnesota Vikings 53 man roster projection: Pre-training camp edition
By Adam Carlson
Offensive Line (9)
The part of the team that needed the biggest overhaul from last year’s personnel is the offensive line. Their struggles were big reasons the team couldn’t run the football well or give Kirk Cousins much time to execute the offense.
Here are the players expected to make the roster from this positional grouping:
- Riley Reiff
- Pat Elflein
- Garrett Bradbury
- Josh Kline
- Brian O’Neill
- Rashod Hill
- Dru Samia
- Brett Jones
- Aviante Collins
Oh boy. Where to start…First, the Minnesota Vikings drafted Garrett Bradbury in hopes of fixing two positions in one swoop. He will take over at center while Elflein moves to guard. In the meantime, Brian O’Neill and Riley Reiff remain the team’s offensive tackles.
The right guard spot is one to watch. Veteran Josh Kline has to be considered the favorite for the starting gig but Oklahoma standout Dru Samia has the opportunity to beat him out during training camp and the preseason.
Collins and Hill are solid backups at offensive tackle. Collins is coming off a torn biceps but looked hugely impressive before going to IR while Hill can play either OT position and provides a lot of depth.
For backup interior linemen, Jones will be a backup center and the loser of the Kline/Samia will join those ranks as well. Hopefully, the team won’t need a lot of depth past those individuals since they will need to tap the practice squad or free agency if anyone past these nine is needed.
