Rivalries renewed

A new Vikings season means new chapters in storied NFC North rivalries. Fans have to be excited for more opportunities to beat the Packers, Bears, and Lions, and the excitement, parties, and beers to be consumed when they meet each other in 2019.

Living near the Minnesota-Wisconsin border, the rivalry between the Vikings and Packers is especially tense. There are so many Green Bay fans where I live that their games are broadcast on Fox when the Vikings aren’t playing in the early afternoon slot. It gets pretty intense.

But it also makes it all the much sweeter when Minnesota beats the disgusting team that wears yellow and green. The Vikings haven’t lost to the Packers in a few years now and Minnesota’s fans should look forward to the team extending that streak this season.

If the Vikings are to become kings of the north in 2019, they will have to figure out a way to beat Chicago. The Bears absolutely destroyed Minnesota in 2018 and they completely had their number.

Vikings fans should have renewed hope that the improved offensive line should give Kirk Cousins more time to scan the field against that crazy talented Chicago front seven. They can also hope that Mike Zimmer has studied Matt Nagy’s insane offense enough, that he’s figured out how to stop it or worse case, slow it down.

Detroit doesn’t scare me much, but they should be better in 2019. However, another sweep of the Lions should be expected from the Vikings this season.
