7 best single-season performances in Vikings history
By Adam Patrick
1. Adrian Peterson (2012)
Stats:
- 2,097 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns
- 40 catches, 217 yards, 1 touchdown
This ending up at the top of the list shouldn’t have come as a surprise to anyone. Adrian Peterson basically carried the Vikings’ offense on his back in 2012 and it resulted in him being the first Minnesota player to be named the NFL’s MVP since 1975.
Oh yeah, let’s not forget to mention that Peterson had this amazing season less than a year after tearing his ACL. Knowing these circumstances, what he was able to do out on the field with the Vikings in 2012 is something that the franchise may never see happen again.
Best Game: Week 17 vs. Green Bay
With a playoff spot on the line, Minnesota needed one more epic performance out of Peterson in their season finale against the Packers. Well, he certainly came through with another impressive afternoon and it ultimately resulted in the Vikings getting the victory over Green Bay.
Peterson finished the matchup with 199 rushing yards and two total touchdowns. His rushing total also resulted in him becoming just the seventh running back in league history to gain at least 2,000 yards on the ground in a single season.
