The Road Grader: David Morgan

If there’s an underrated player on the Vikings offense, it might be David Morgan. Morgan’s receiving stats aren’t something that should be noted, but what he brings to the table is an ability to help spring the running game and help out the offensive line.

Morgan ranked 32 among tight ends in pass blocking at Pro Football Focus and although his run-blocking grade was underwhelming, he still has made an impact clearing the way for whoever winds up in the Vikings’ backfield.

While Morgan isn’t a target monster in the Vikings offense, Minnesota does know what it’s like operating without him on the field as he missed a good portion of the second half of 2018 with a knee injury. Although he sat out most of OTAs as he recovered from said injury, he should be ready to go once the Vikings report to Eagan.
