New offensive leaders

There’s no denying the fact that the Vikings’ offense was a problem for the team last season. Minnesota expected their success on the offensive side of the ball in 2017 to just carry over to 2018 under new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo.

But instead of running a balanced offense like they did in 2017, DeFilippo had the Vikings passing the ball way too much. Unfortunately for him, Minnesota let him go before their season was even over last year.

After the disaster that came from hiring DeFilippo, the Vikings made it a priority this year to bring in guys with an actual track record of success to run their offense.

Minnesota promoted longtime assistant Kevin Stefanski to be their new offensive coordinator and hired former Denver Broncos and Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak to be an offensive advisor.

In addition to these two moves, the Vikings also brought in Rick Dennison to be the team’s new offensive line coach. Dennison and Kubiak have a successful history together and Minnesota is hoping the two can work their magic again in 2019.

The new minds on the Vikings’ offensive staff should be able to turn the unit around this year and at least make it more efficient. If they can figure out a way to make it resemble the offense from 2017 even just a little bit, Minnesota should be happy with those results.
